When Raf told me he had a special lunch planned near Central Park during our vacation in New York, I was SO excited! Little did I know it was going to be in a 2 Michelin Star restaurant!!! Never in my life would I have thought I would ever even step foot into a restaurant that had a Michelin Star. I asked him not to take us to such a special place just for lunch but for some reason (which you’ll find out soon enough) he just wouldn’t take no for an answer!

As you can see, the restaurant is absolutely gorgeous. But what Raf and I fell in love with, was the service. We both come from a fine-dining background and watching what these servers did seriously BLEW our minds. The communication between servers with no real words ever spoken between them was amazing. They knew what you were thinking WAY before you even thought of it yourself!

Check out our pictures below of some of the dishes that we had!

Bouquet of Seasonal Vegetables, Sunflower Seed and Mustard

Foie Gras “Marzipan,” Quince-Riesling Velvet, Pistachio, Almond and Rose
Black Bass Crusted with Nuts and Seeds, Sweet and Sour Jus
Arctic Char with Finger Lime in an Aromatic Mushroom Broth

Spiced Pumpkin Cream, Gingerbread Cookie, Butternut Squash Sorbet, Pumpkin Seed Praline
Bittersweet Chocolate Ganache, Honey Roasted Peanut Ice Cream and Passion Fruit

The lunch menu was a Prix Fixe menu with a choice of 3 options. You could do what we did or they have an option to select Chef Vongerichten’s Assortment of 7 Signature Dishes.

So, after dessert came and we enjoyed those, the servers brought out two plates filled with rose petals to our table…when I looked down I was so confused and looked at Raf wondering what I was supposed to do next (lol!). He gave me a look and I looked back down and saw a little red pouch.

I’ve honestly never been so surprised in my life and I couldn’t believe that he got me a Cartier Love Ring. Not to be too mushy but lets just say he had a few words to say to me and of course I cried like a baby until we left the restaurant! Not only do I love this ring with everything inside of me, especially because of how he gave it to me, but I also love what the Cartier Love Collection means:

A child of 1970s New York, the LOVE collection remains today an iconic symbol of love that transgresses convention. The screw motifs, ideal oval shape and undeniable elegance establish the piece as a timeless tribute to passionate romance. Studded with diamonds, yellow gold or rose gold: how far would you go for love?

We had such an amazing time at Jean-Georges in New York City and I could not recommend it enough. I really hope to go back for a dinner date next time, espcially with all of these memories I have of the beautiful place already!

-XO, Lana
